Recent records of porcupines, genus <em>Coendou<em> (Mammalia: Erethizontidae), from Córdoba Department, Colombia

Abstract (en):

Recent records of porcupines, Coendou quichua and Coendou prehensilis are reported for the department of Córdoba, in the Caribbean region of Colombia. These are from the southern part of the department, from remote regions and the buffer area of the Paramillo National Nature Park. The locality reported here is the seventh verified for the country. Illegal trafficking of one individual of C. prehensilis was observed and comments on its use and threats it faces on a national level are given.

Se presentan registros recientes de los puercoespines Coendou quichua y Coendou prehensilis para el departamento de Córdoba, en la región del Caribe colombiano. Estos provienen del sur del departamento, así como al interior y en la zona de amortiguación del Parque Nacional Natural Paramillo. La localidad presentada para C. quichua en este trabajo constituye la séptima verificada en el país. Igualmente, se registra el intento de tráfico ilegal de un ejemplar de C. prehensilis y notas sobre uso y amenazas a nivel nacional.
