Description of a new species of butterfly of the genus Wahydra Steinhauser (Lepidoptera: Hesperiidae: Hesperiinae: Anthoptini) from Colombia

Abstract (en):

A new species of skipper butterfly is described (Hesperiidae) for Colombia, typical of high Andean regions, especially in the region of montane moors in the Cordillera Oriental of Colombia. This new species, Wahydra carneiroi n. sp., is easily distinguished by the presence of a white band in the region of the postbasal ventral hindwing in addition to differences in genitalia.

Se describe una nueva especie de mariposa saltarín (Hesperiidae) para Colombia, propia de zonas alto andinas
especialmente en la región de vida paramuna en la cordillera Oriental de Colombia. Wahydra carneiroi n. sp. se
diferencia fácilmente de las otras especies del género, por la presencia notoria de una banda blanca en la región
posbasal del ala posterior ventral, además de las diferencias en las estructura genitales. Con la descripción de
esta nueva especie el género queda integrado por 14 especies propias de las regiones andinas de Colombia,
Venezuela, Perú, Ecuador, Bolivia y Argentina.
