The Scale insects of Colombia (Hemiptera: Coccoidea)

Abstract (en):

La presente lista se basa en una compilación de la poca literatura existente sobre este grupo en Colombia, información del banco de datos ScaleNet, e información colectada por el autor durante varias excursiones de colecta en este país durante el periodo de 1995 al 2000. Las colectas se enfocaron principalmente en las cochinillas del mango (Mangifera indica), y recientemente en las cochinillas blandas mirmecófilas (Coccidae: Myzolecaniinae). Este listado incluye solo aquellos taxa identificados a nivel específico, por lo cual algunas especies fueron omitidas. Es importante anotar que especies no identificadas de los géneros Toumeyella en la familia Coccidae (Figueroa Potes 1952), Margarodes, Protortonia y Stigmacoccus en la familia Margarodidae (Ochoa 1989) también han sido reportadas en Colombia. Durante este estudio, cochinillas blandas del género Toumeyella fueron observadas en Persea americana, Erythrina sp., Citrus limon y Ananas comosus.
