Abstract (en):

A summarized presentation of the premises that sustain traditional amerindian foraging societies (hunter/gatherers) is indispensable to understanding the nature of society links between predator and prey as well as to understanding resource variability and future availability. A summary of the knowledge available about activities associated with the protein obtention is given for binational amerindian groups living between the Meta and Guainía (Río Negro) rivers. This allows us to point out that traditional hunting and collecting for subsistence have only minor importance as causes of the present scarcity of certain fauna resources. Nevertheless we point out limitations of available field data and the necessity of updating the information to continue studies about sustainability and environmental impacts.
